Glamourize Your Daily Routine!

To all you gorgeous Glamourinas out there (yes, I’ve invented a new word!)… I bring you the second installment of Project Glamour!

I’m going to reiterate a few of the points I made in 20 Ways To Be Glamorous On A Budget, plus I’ll be bringing in some new points to totally glamourize how you live your day!

Glamourize Your Surroundings

In a glamorous daily lifestyle, detail is key. Pay attention to the places where you spend most time – are you waking up in your own little blissful palace? Or, as you grudgingly move to the bathroom bleary eyed, do you fail to notice the clutter surrounding your bed?

Making sure there are plenty of little personal touches added in throughout your day can make it a pleasure to live. Rose petal flavoured teabags? Satin cushions? Scented hair mist? A pink bathtub? Anything that gives you a small boost inside should find its place in your daily routine, so make time for them and live in pleasure!

Plan Each Morning’s Routine The Night Before

Carefully planning each detail of tomorrow, with anticipation of the lovely things it will bring, is a sure-fire strategy of making everyday a luxury. I say luxury because you have consciously planned and chosen what you want your day to bring. It puts you in control of what happens – you are calmer and stronger, which helps in dealing with those unexpected situations that inevitably crop up from time to time. Even setting the time aside to layer on your favourite perfume and accessorize will give you an inner glow as you’ll benefit from taking more care of yourself.

Lay out your outfits, accessories and make-up. When showering use zesty, aromatic gels/creams to elevate and set your mood according to how you will be today. Tropical, minty fresh or downright sweet ‘n girly?

Putting in a great deal of thought and making an effort with how you dress, even for a typical shift in your everyday job, will have a profound effect on how you behave on an everyday basis. You’ll realise you are worth it and you’ll begin to feel a whole lot more glamorous.

When it comes to eating, put time and care into your meals and plan ahead. Be sure to include some of your favourite foods everyday, whether that would be fruit or something a little more dulce. Prepare as if you are cooking for guests you want to impress – if you’re not out to impress yourself how can you impress anyone else?

Wear your favourite item of clothing or pair of shoes – you never wear them but love to look at them, right? Life ain’t no dress rehearsal, it’s the here and now! So wear that item today and feel exactly how you wanted to feel when you bought them.

Beautifying, Luxurious & Glamorous Experiences for CHEAP

I have mentioned before that glamorous experiences don’t always require a bucketful of cash – even those that normally would. You can find even the most luxurious beautifying ritual at a low price if you go about it the right way. The current economic climate isn’t all bad news – it has led may of the top end services to lower their prices, and has catalysed a growth in the number of sites that are dedicated to finding amazing experiences for cheap. Some of these are Groupon (both UK and international sites exist), Wowcher and It Is On (for those who live in Scotland). If you are striving to be the student who manages to live a glamorous lifestyle there are also student dedicated sites such as Student Beans. One of the best sites that gives great general advice on saving the dosh in all areas of your life is The Money Saving Expert.

So don’t be afraid to book yourself in for a luxurious pampering sesh – perhaps as a weekly treat – as part of your new glamorous lifestyle.

If you like to do the pampering, creating your own spa at home is the cheapest option of all!

Being A Critic Can Sometimes Mean Prizes!

In this case I in no way mean you should be a complainer. Open your eyes and be more sensitive to what’s going on around you – was the customer service good when you picked up your latté this morning? Assessing how companies deliver their products, reflecting what can be improved, and then telling the companies can end up in great results and gratitude from them – meaning free products.

Companies like good exposure, so offer to review services or products, and then deliver a detailed and honest response. Great lifestyle for you, great feedback for them!

I hope these tips for glamorous everyday living have inspired you. Being glamorous is not just about what you buy, but proving to yourself that you are worth a lot. It’s really about striving to impress yourself rather than them. Then you’ll realise you ARE more glamorous than you ever believed.

What are your own personal ways of making each day glamorous? Share in the comments below so we can all inspire each other to live more consciously and recognise opportunities to make existing more glamorous!

All Glam Things Come To Those Who Turn 20!

Hey all! Haven’t posted in a while, been lots going on! I had my birthday, which can only mean a run down of the glamorous birthday makeup, nails and nuevas cosas!!!

Glamorous Smokey Eyes

This was my “trial” session for my birthday makeup which was created by using MAC’s Carbon up to the crease, blending out with Mulch and a little Patina. Inglot’s pearl was used as an under eyebrow highlight. Apologies for the state of my brows – waxing commenced the next morning…when I got this beauty of a manicure!

Glamorous Birthday Nails

Originally opting for a classic French, I succumbed to the offering of glitter tips. Pretty glad I did. If I got sick of them I knew they could be painted over, provided an acetone-free remover is used. It can be pretty hard to type on my little Blackberry buttons (yes, I am still on the BB side where it is lonely and cold) and on the laptop but oh how we have to pay the price for a little glamour sometimes!

All of the gifts were amazingly gorgeous, including the Lush products at the front which smelt incredibly delectable. Tiny Hands, the hand shaped bar at the front, melts into a dreamy hand lotion that nourishes your skin in vanilla, chamomile and marigold. In the middle is a “Butterball” bath bomb and on the right hand side is a shower melt. I love the smell that permeates pretty much every street in the country that contains a Lush store. Definitely puts you in the mood to get clean 😉

If any of you have been lucky enough to find a Gilly Hicks store I’m sure you’ll remember the exotic holiday and island theme that permeates the store (as is common in the Abercrombie family, with Hollister as prime example) and the range of fragrances. Pointed Piper is a gorgeous holiday scent that really reminds me of “Island Kiss” from Escada. Give it a few minutes to develop. On first spray it can be a bit overpowering but it gradually folds out into light pleasant wafts of sunshine. Makes me look forward to leaving Winter behind!

In keeping with the Abercrombie theme, I bought this scrumptiously scented Malibu Beach body lotion from Hollister with my birthday money. It’s one of the sweeter lotions in the range. It basically has that gorgeous nutty, warm smell of cocoa butter BUT without the thickness to it – it literally sinks in to your skin instantly and leaves a healthy sheen and once its sunk in there is a distinct trace of a coconut scent. Delicious!

I picked up a lovely new addition to my lipstick collection – MAC’s Pretty Please, a sheer cheerful nude with a light pink finish.

In the aim of looking more groomed (yes the eyebrow and nail combo inspired me) I purchased a brow tinting kit from Benefit which contains a brown paste and powder to build coverage on the brow and make it look darker and neater. This is makeup, not permanent. I think it made a nice difference. I did look more put together in a less obvious way and I would recommend it but not the small brushes they supply if you need more control.

The Dior Mascara does a fine job of volumising and I enjoy using the wand. However I’d still prefer to buy a cheaper mascara given the choice… so not too much to comment on there. Dior certainly doesn’t provide the finest performance in high-end cosmetics and I would much rather recommend Lancome or Clinique.

In my own experience Maybelline is the best option mascara-wise for my own lashes as they need a mascara that prides itself on volumising and thickening properties. Everyone’s lashes are different so you do need to list and cross off the mighty task of finding the one that works for you from your to-do list. That’s the thing with makeup. You can’t confidently recommend one thing to absolutely everyone. Perhaps only those who have your own ‘diagnosis’ will find your holy grail product useful. Even then, with the same problem, many need further small adjustments to the solution.

My mother gave me this stunning pink bracelet from Lime Blue Diamonds – I have to admit I’m almost scared to wear it as it’s so pristine and glistens beautifully. She also presented me with a sleek, patent purse from Ted Baker which was great as the zip on my last wallet, which had been imported all the way from Korea, had broken and trying to open it with these nails was quickly becoming a nightmare!

Hope whenever your next birthday may be, you are blessed with lots of lovely things and amazing people around you! And Happy Birthday to all fellow Capricorns!

Lots of Love,

Stephanie xx

Coco-Sushi Diet ♥

So I went to the dentist the other day for the first time in FIVE years. I was absolutely terrified from the gut feeling in the pit of my stomach that told me I was probably needing about 1 filling for each year I’d missed out on!

To be honest the reason I hadn’t been in so long was probably just due to laziness and moving house. Anyway so I had my wee check-up and the dentist was a man (never had a male dentist before) and he was so lovely. He told me I needed absolutely nothing much to my delight and all I needed to do was try and cut down on my fizzy drinks as it was causing a bit of erosion to my front teeth.

So following this advice, I have decided to try and cut out my dirty coke habit. Coca Cola that is!!! I have been drinking coca cola for years and it’s going to be so hard to try and prise myself away from it but it’s all for the goodness of my skin and teeth.

So today I was passing by Holland and Barrett and I decided to go in for a snoop around for Coconut Water. I’ve heard it’s all the rage recently. But I’ve also heard it’s very good for you as it’s like “drinking with a straw from a coconut”. So I bought a bottle of the stuff (which had a picture of Rihanna on the front in the bahamas, naturally..) and paid FOUR pounds for it. All in the name of beauty.

I have to say it doesn’t taste as strong or sweet as I expected, which I guess is a good thing as it shows how little rubbish it contains. This is pure stuff. My palette and taste is just adjusting!

Going along with the whole healthy theme I also decided to eat some sushi for lunch. Nothing drastic, just some tuna/prawn/cucumber type stuff. I love sushi. It’s so light and you never feel bloated after eating it, yet it’s so tasty!

So yeah, we’ll just have to see how long this new healthier phase lasts!
